Reclaimed Paper Lamp

When your girlfriend’s Mom asks you to restore her beloved paper lamp, you do it!. I wasn’t sure what it would look like from her description, apparently a much loved item brought back from her years in Hong Kong. As I dismantled the cracked yellowy paper sides, I was surprised to see the webs of mini flies probably accumulated over years. Get the Vacuum! Aside from the bugs, all I had to do was give it a fresh coat of paint on the inside and replace the panels with new paper and readjust the light. I also added the Japanese symbol for peace/harmony to the side. As I proudly present the finished item I learn that the lamp was actually not Japanese but Korean. DOH! Minus some major Mom points for that one.
